Viewing attachments
If the message you are reading has an attachment, an icon appears at the bottom of the page, after the message body. Click the attachment icon or link to view it. Web Mail will attempt to display the attached file using your browser.

Note: If your browser can’t display the attachment, it opens a dialog box so you can download the attachment to your computer instead. For example, some browsers cannot display Microsoft Word files, so clicking on an attachment that is a Word file opens a SAVE AS dialog box.

Downloading attachments
Windows and UNIX users: With a two- or three-button mouse, you can download an attachment by right-clicking on the attachment icon or link and selecting SAVE LINK AS or SAVE TARGET AS.

Macintosh users: With a one-button mouse, you can download an attachment by clicking the icon or link and selecting SAVE THIS LINK AS.

Creating attachments
On the   page, you can attach files to a message you’re writing. To attach a file:

  1. Click the ATTACHMENTS button in the WRITE MAIL page.
The ATTACHMENTS page appears, listing three steps for attaching a file.
  2. In Step 1, select the file to attach by either:
  3. In Step 2, click the ATTACH button.
  4. In Step 3, click the RETURN TO MESSAGE button to go back to your message so you can edit or send it.

Microsoft Internet Explorer Users: If you do not see the BROWSE button, it is because you are using an older version of Internet Explorer. We suggest that you upgrade to Internet Explorer 4.0 to attach files. If you continue to use an older version of Internet Explorer, it must be at least version 3.02, and it must have Microsoft’s "File Upload" patch installed. You can get this patch by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/ie/download/?/ie/download/ie3add.htm.

If you want to remove an attachment before sending your message, scroll to the bottom of the page, where your current attachments are listed. Select the check box next to the attachment you want to remove, then click the REMOVE SELECTED button.

Please note: Trying to attach a file that is larger than 3.50 megabytes may give unexpected results. You can attach various files per message, so long as the total size of all attachments does not exceed 3.50 megabytes (3670016 bytes). The length of time it takes to attach a file depends on the size of the file and the speed of your Internet connection.

Unix users: You may sometimes encounter a problem where your browser appears to hang. Although this might be related to the attachment’s size and your Internet connection’s speed, it can also be because of the lack of space in your local /tmp directory. If you are using Netscape Navigator or Communicator, try deleting any nsform* files owned by you in /tmp.
